Winter at Wolfscastle

An Update from Andy This December:

The season of goodwill is creeping up on us which gives us one time to reflect on 2022.  Much has happened in our world, we have employed a new head chef, Sebastian Smith, who was head chef at the Grosvenor Hotel in Stockbridge, Hampshire, and before that Head chef at Oakley Hall in Basingstoke   Both establishments were high-end food establishments.  To further enhance our 2 rosette standard we are creating a new 5-course restaurant menu alongside our revamped Brasserie menu. This will be served in the Allt Yr Avon restaurant which we are refurbishing to give a more opulent atmosphere. Hopefully, the opening date will be Saturday 20th January.

Sebastian has also created a new afternoon tea with delicious cakes, sandwiches made with homemade bread, and a few savory options, a truly sumptuous afternoon tea, one you must try.

Unlike the previous couple of years Christmas parties are taking off and people are starting to party again.  Christmas day as ever is full of many of the regular faces along with some new ones, It is always such a lovely day.  This year we have a wedding on New Years Eve which means we won’t be holding our own festivities.

Last month the Annual Welsh Wedding Awards were held in Swansea , we were nominated for the best Boutique Wedding Venue in West Wales.  These awards could only be voted on by The Brides & Grooms who actually had their weddings in the venues. I’d like to give a big thank you to all who voted for us, as not only did we win the West Wales award but then went on to win the Best Boutique Wedding Venue for the whole of Wales.  A wonderful accolade for our dedicated team that works so hard to ensure that every wedding we host is the best it can be and a truly memorable day for all attending.

Thanks to Global warming our fuchsia is still blooming in the garden, it must be very confusing being a plant in todays world! Anyway, it does mean that Freddie our golden cocker, and myself & Mandy enjoy lovely walks along the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline, beaches, hills & woods.  50 years ago after completing a 3-year management course & 2 years in France & Switzerland working in hotels, I came to St. Davids to run my father’s hotel, St. Nons, I had intended to stay for just 2 years but the lure of Pembrokeshire meant that 50 years on I’m still here and when Freddie & I are out walking I fully understand why.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and look forward to seeing many of you in the coming year.  Please do follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see our new menus, pictures of the restaurant when finished, and forthcoming events.

Our website will have information on our Valentine’s events which starts with a Michael Bublé tribute act on Saturday 11th February featuring internationally acclaimed James Williams who has performed here before  & is probably the best Michael Bublé tribute act around. This will be followed by a 5 course Valentine’s dinner on Tuesday, February 14th.  These events are always very popular so book early not to miss out on either of these great nights.
