A Different Wolfcastle Summer

This summer has been very different to last year’s at the hotel, whilst last year everyone took a
staycation and took their holidays in Britain, now everyone has gone abroad and faced the chaos in
our airports. So, we have been a little quieter and able to concentrate on quality which is what the
hotel always strives to do. We have had several weddings that had been put on hold from the covid
years and it has been a joy to host them, and we have had some wonderful comments. I say in my
book which I wrote 5 years ago to celebrate 40 years at the hotel that weddings are so important it’s
the only event that you get one chance at so it HAS to be right and I feel we seriously do, made easy
because they are such joyous occasions.

As summer draws slowly to a close and autumn will soon be upon us we are proud to host many
charity functions for varying good causes, like, Cancer research, Alzheimer’s, the DPJ foundation,
Belles Story charity and a Ukrainian support evening – Putin has had an impact on all our lives but
most of all the poor Ukrainians – we are employing a Ukrainian family and what lovely people they
are, they lost their home in Ukraine and a local family are giving them shelter. The local Ukrainian
community are trying to raise funds to buy vehicles to take the wounded from the front line to a
hospital, the function is on the 11th of November, and I sincerely hope the local community will
support by offering raffle and auction prizes and possibly coming to the event.

Facing, as we all are, rising utility bills, inflation and increased interest rates, products are being hit,
so we have re-introduced a 2-course market menu, made up of traditional dishes using the best
available produce. This menu is available both at lunch time £22 a head and in the evening £25 a
head and will run alongside our A la Carte menu. We have also started offering a 10% discount card
to encourage guests and diners to return and we will be thinking of a few more cost cutting ideas to
support our customers still wishing to dine out.

Whilst we have a core of staff that have worked with us for more than a decade, we have had to
recruit one or two new ones and we are excited by the calibre of personnel available to us, hopefully
this means our quality will improve even further.

When we can, we will be hosting special events starting on the 28th of August with our Bottomless
Brunch, when diners will be offered as much as they can eat and drink from 12 o’clock until 2pm for
£35 a head, whilst being serenaded by Emma the Sax player, this should be fun and something we
will repeat in the Autumn most probably.

We hope to see you in the future and take us up on our dining & accommodation offers.
