Andy’s Blog – Summer 2023

As we move towards the summer, Freddie our golden cocker spaniel and myself have taken advantage of the lovely Welsh weather and we are enjoying endless walks through the amazing Pembrokeshire countryside and woodlands. It’s lovely to smell the wild garlic and see the beautiful bluebells on these Pembrokeshire walks.  On Saturday Freddie had a walk along 8 miles of the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline only a short distance away from our Pembrokeshire Hotel. We spotted the odd seal and watched the many seabirds as they hovered and chatted over the cliffs.  Fortunately Freddie no longer tries to catch them, otherwise the cliffs would not be a great place to walk!!!

A few years ago, we won best dog friendly hotel in Pembrokeshire and now, each week we are host to a few four-legged friends. Don’t forget to check out our Pooch Retreat offer if you and your dog would also like to come and stay at our dog friendly hotel and enjoy the walks for yourselves.

Enough about our walking, let’s update you on what else has been going on:

A new sign on the road announces our recent accolade as the best boutique wedding venue in Wales which we were awarded in November last year.

6 months ago we employed a new head chef, Sebastian Smith and Pastry chef Adamma Diaw, both whom had recently been working at the Great Fosters Hotel in Egham which was a red star hotel and had been awarded 3 rosettes by the AA and a Michelin star, so the standard of our food has taken a huge leap forward.

As well as our brasserie food, 4 nights of the week, we offer a fine dining experience in our newly refurbished restaurant where Seb creates dishes such as:

Hand dived Orkney scallops, confit chicken wing, sorrel velouté

Due of beef, fillet & spare rib with lovage & black garlic

Valrhona Manjari, chocolate delice, Tonka Bean, Hazelnut

Adamma has introduced to us a new level of afternoon teas which are getting rave reviews and are offered 7 days a week from 1oclock until 5 o’clock.

Customers can now book both accommodation restaurant bookings and afternoon teas online or of course you can still pick up the phone and talk to our reception.

From the 1st June to the 20th July we are offering a 15% discount on B&B rates for those staying for 3 nights or more, and finally on the 9th July for the 20th year we are hosting our annual ladies day garden afternoon party.  Ladies arrive by 2.30 and are offered a glass of pimms followed by a full sweet and savoury afternoon tea, background music by “Sleeping Dogs” photographer, spa girls doing a makeup demonstration and mini treatments and a raffle, money from the ticket and the raffle goes to Paul Sartori and the Amani children’s home, this is a great afternoon so ladies get our your posh frocks and party.

And if you need to relax after walking, eating, or partying, whichever preference is yours, you can book yourself into the Wolfscastle Pembrokeshire Spa. In June, you can choose two treatments from a Manicure, Pedicure, Spray Tan for just £50.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Pembrokeshire Hotel very soon.
