Andrew Wins ‘Best Hotel General Manager of the Year’!

A HUGE congratulations to our owner Andrew Stirling, who last night picked up the award for ‘Best Hotel General Manager of the Year’ at The Welsh Hospitality Awards in Cardiff!

Andrew Stirling was born into the catering industry, His Father owned hotels & restaurants and his Grandfather and great Grandfather  were wine merchants.

Andrew worked in his Fathers restaurant from the age of 10-17 ( his Fathers restaurant was voted 1 of the top 20 restaurants in Britain by the good food guide) he then worked in a Swiss hotel for a year and a French Restaurant before moving on to complete 3 years in a Hotel Management School.

When his training had finished he managed his Fathers hotel for 5 years which gave him the experience he then used to open the Wolfscastle Country hotel 41 years ago.

The Wolfscastle Country hotel, which although has continued to  grow over the decades, has remained an individual  family run hotel, which while maintaining a professional approach has a  very warm & friendly ambience.   Many staff have worked here for over 10 years and some as long as 30 years.  As the trip advisers routinely say our staff are really friendly and well trained.

Never one to stand still and always looking for ways to improve customers experience,  a recent addition to the hotel is the intimate Beauty & Wellness Spa and thermal suite which is staffed by 3 therapists.

The past year has seen us awarded the Pembrokeshire Business awards for best Food & Hospitality, which we feel confirms our reputation for Good food at affordable prices from our 2 rosette restaurant.  We have just been named the best dog friendly hotel in Pembrokeshire by Burns pet foods.

We support every local charity with a voucher for raffles and auctions regardless of the cause and Mandy Stirling, one of the 2 directors of the hotel, as chairwoman of the ladies circle, through charity events supported by the hotel has raised over £30,000 for local charities, Ty Haffen & Noahs Ark.

Every year in July we host a very popular ladies day, when approximately 200 ladies get all dressed up for  afternoon tea, a  fashion show and raffle with the proceeds going to The Paul Satori foundation and The Amani Childrens Home – A charity founded by one of Andrew Stirling’s Uncles.

Last year saw the Launch Of Andy’s’ Book “My Life & Other Recipes” which is half autobiographical and half a selection of his favourite recipes that the hotel has produced over the years.

From us all at Wolfscastle, we would like to say a huge thank you for Andrew’s tireless work over the years, a much deserved reward for all your efforts!
