Autumn Adventures – 5 Fun Family Days Out in Pembrokeshire

Autumn Adventures – 5 Fun Family Days Out in Pembrokeshire

Finding activities to keep the whole family entertained can be one of the trickier parts of a holiday! Here in Pembrokeshire we’ve got plenty of places to visit that will give you a great family day out. So, we thought we’d share a few of our favourites, just a short journey from Wolfscastle Country Hotel.

Pembrokeshire Wake Park

If you like the water, you’ll love Wales’ first outdoor aqua park. A spot of cable wakeboarding is guaranteed to get the adrenaline going as an overhead line tows you at speed around the lake. The more advanced (or brave) can even try a few daring air tricks over a range of obstacles. If wakeboarding isn’t your cup of tea, you can slip, slide and splash your way around the inflatable obstacle course. Pembrokeshire Wake Park offers a fun day out for families with older children who are reasonable swimmers and it’s open in pretty much all weathers. A great choice for a day when the beach isn’t an option but you still fancy some fun in the water.

Folly Farm

For families with younger children Folly Farm near Tenby is the place to go. There’s so much to do and see here, the kids will never get bored. There are over 700 animals to say hello to, from the exotic giraffes, rhinos, meercats and monkeys to common farm favourites like piglets, lambs and even llamas. As well as all the animals, there are eight adventure play areas and a vintage fairground to keep everyone happy. With both indoor and outdoor activities on offer, Folly Farm is a good bet in all weathers.

Oakwood

If you’ve got teenagers, Oakwood theme park near Canaston Bridge is the perfect place to get into their good books! Home to the UK’s top wooden rollercoaster and highest sky swing, as well as plenty more amazing rides, Oakwood is a full day’s entertainment. For younger children there are less intense activities to enjoy like Peter Pan’s Neverland, mini golf and the Clown Coaster. In autumn, the park is open at weekends and around half term when the not-to-be-missed Halloween Spooktacular takes place.

Blue Lagoon

If the weather isn’t on its best behaviour, why not head down to Pembrokeshire’s top subtropical waterpark, the Blue Lagoon? With waterslides, spas, a lazy river and four water flumes that weave inside and outside the building, there are hours of fun to be had. The really daring can even have a go at rocketing down the fast and steep Torpedo flume. For little ones there’s a much calmer under 5s area. It’s a very popular attraction, so if you’re thinking of visiting, it’s usually a good idea to book in advance.

Hangar 5

What do you do when the kids have too much energy? Head down to Hangar 5, Wales’ first trampoline park! The large indoor arena has 100 interconnected trampolines on which to bounce until you drop. Open to children aged 6 and over, it’s a top spot for letting off some steam on a day when it’s not so nice outside. If you have younger children in the group too, there’s a soft play area in the café to keep them happy while the older ones are trampolining (and you can enjoy a nice cup of tea).
