Local Walks

Pembrokeshire is fantastic for walkers, whether you’re looking to explore the awe-inspiring coastline on the 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path, follow an Iron Age track across the Preseli Mountains or explore more local routes around the hotel itself. Our staff have decided to share their favourite hiking destinations with you…

Treffgarne Rocks

As well as an ancient hillfort, you’ll discover breathtaking views and fascinating geology up at Treffgarne Rocks, which you can see from the hotel. See the geology section for more additional information.

Treffgarne Gorge

This local gorge walk starts at Nant-y-Coy Mill and takes in woodland, the river and the Treffgarne Rocks, following a path above the Western Cleddau.

Anghof Valley

Take the A40 a little way north of Wolfscastle and turn right towards Sealyham. Just after a farm on the right hand side is a track marked footpath – park here and take a short walk to the river.

This valley is a wonderfully secret place that hides an industrial past – a real undiscovered gem. The river actually passes through a man-made gorge and was diverted to serve nearby 19th Century slate quarries.

Old Quarry Bridge and Sealyham

Many ramblers have remarked on the beauty of this circular walk from Wolfscastle to the Old Quarry Bridge and Sealyham, then back. Ask at reception for directions.

Pembrokeshire Coast Path

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is one of Britain’s best-known National Trails, offering 186 miles of wonderful coastal walking through the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. As well as the breathtaking views, what makes the Pembrokeshire Coast Path particularly interesting is the variety of landscapes you pass through. Beautiful wildflowers grow along the route in the spring and summer and you’ll see great wildlife including seals, dolphins and porpoises.

Preseli Mountains

There are great routes throughout these magical mountains, including the atmospheric Golden Road, an ancient ridge route along the spine of the hills that dates back to prehistory.
